Video 3 - Keyword Research and Setting up Campaigns

It's time for a new video in The New PPC Video series! This one (#3) is ready to watch right now: It's called: "Creating & Structuring a Campaign".

These videos got so long that we had to cut them into 4 parts! You'll find the four parts below.

This is what you've been asking for — no fluff, just down and dirty "how to do it" stuff direct from us. A few people have asked why we are giving out all this information. The answer is easy:

Because most of PPC information online is misleading or just plain wrong. The best way for us to prove we know what we're talking about is to SHOW YOU HOW we do what we do. How to get a RETURN on your INVESTMENT in Pay Per Click advertising. How to know what to spend on PPC, how fast you should spend it, and what kind of return you can expect.

In the last video, we showed you how to determine if you're in the right market, how to find your most profitable  keywords, and how to do some research using Clickbank. In this new video, we'll show you how to structure a campaign the right way in Adwords.  You're going to learn:

==> Setting Up A Campaign in Google

==> The one biggest key to Google Adwords.

==> What makes Yahoo different.

==> What you must know about MSN.

We'll also show you…

==> The power of "grouping" keywords and how to do it correctly.

==> A "power user's list" of the right settings to use.

==> Secrets of successful split-testing.

==> Contextual vs. Search ads

==> And a Hot new Clickbank feature you MUST check out for higher conversions and profits!

David :

I am a newbie and would like to know if it is possible to meet with you guys? I live about 15 minutes from you and would like to meet . The reason is that I am permanently disabled because of a car accident and am looking for a system that works! and some one who is honest . If you could see your wayclear I would appreciate the opportunity if that is possible? To learn from someone who has gone over the ground that I would like to cover .
Thanks,
David Richardson

rayray :

Great stuff guys.

Doesn't Google only allow one url for direct linking? If so, how are you woring around it?

Randy Gaulding :

Guys: Couple of questions.
Did you get the silo topics: general, back, upper, lower and tribal tatoos from Themezoom? If not where?
How did you research the demographics of females vs. males and the %?

Great videos guys, looking forward to the rest… especially the info on how you automate the laborious process of creating the keyword level tracking id URL's! :)

Mike

Great content guys!

What tracking script do you guys use for non-Clickbank products, or your own products?

Where do you get the demographic data from MSN? Is it set up within the Ad Center?

Keep up the good work!

David :

This is the first time I am getting a step by step plan to make internet marketing a success! I can't wait till the next video! You guys are great in a day when most people want you to pay to know their name you guys are TEACHING and giving soo much content.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks,
David Richardson

Can't wait for your next series!!

samir :

hehe you guys say 'EXACTLY' too much times.

i call you 'exactly brothers' from on now! otherwise is good videos.

BUT, you wiil show 'step by the step' market research one day?

because… in first video, you look just in clickbank and go one by one of the different products.

(this takes too long to find just one market i think). there is a better way? faster way to find many markets? tell us!

please!

Dennis :

Hey great video!

I also had some question about finding a profitable niche/market…with Overture Bid tool dead and now they have the same QS concept as Google how do we find a profitable niche?

And in the last video dealing with MSN, how do you add tracking ID to all the keywords used in that adgroup like how you guys did with Google Adword?

Thanks in advance

Big Q: I own my own product and have created an affiliate program. I am intentionally not taking the affiliate program to click bank for the moment until I test conversion on my affiliate site.

So how do I test my keywords with the ID numbers like you were suggesting on google.

Max :

When you register at AdCenter, go to the screen where you pick your keywords, you can search for what ever keywords you'd like and it will give you demographics. Age,gender, income, cities…

Eddy :

Great video!
I noticed you guys didn't use exact match, "", [] and negative keywords in your keyword list for your campaigns which I understand is very important. Any thoughts?

Johoakim :

Hi guys! Thanks for nice the videos.

Question: How do you set up a tracking ID for specific keywords if you have your own landing page (i.e. if you are not sending people directly to clickbank)?

Do you need to have a different landing page per keyword (yikes)?

Or do you need to set up some kind of script on your landing page that recognizes what keyword brought the visitor, then send the appropriate tracking ID to the affiliate site?

If so, is there such a script (PHP or otherwise) available that will do this? Thanks.

Ted :

Can't wait to see your killer automation machine!
I don't like repetitive stuff either.

Ted

after two years of reading every thing I could get, your videos do more then all the 140 e-books and 2000 reports I have in the computer.
I now under stand what PPC is and what is involved to do it .
Keep up the exelent work.! Thank You .

Jonathan :

Hi

Thanks for the vidoes - I downloaded the files and unfortunately I can't play them on my PC (got audio but no video :( ) - can you please tell me what codec is required please?

Thank you.

Larry :

Thanks for the great feedback and questions everyone!

David,

We would love to give you personal attention, unfortunately that is not possible at this time. Sorry.

=====================

rayray,

Yes the one url rule is in effect. The work around is a registrar domain mask which can forward any domain to a url of your choice. This is not the ideal solution though. You really want to market properly and have a presales page where you get an optin.

=====================

Randy,

We are compiling a true silo'd keyword list using themezoom and that will be release in a coming video. Stay tuned!

We use the following for demographic data: http://adlab.msn.com/DPUI/DPUI.aspx

Joe Barrett :

I found this market a few months back (Tattoo's) and thought I struck gold, however the conversion was horrible. Not sure if people are willing to pull cash out of their pocket for designs they can get for free both online and off.

Peter Haynes :

Hi Guys,

Great material..really appreciated.

Two questions for you and apologies if they've already been asked before:

1) What software do you use to track potential customers from start to finish?

2) Do you set up separate landing pages for each adgroup?

March 26, 2007

mariah :

This is absolutely brilliant, you guys are amazing and trust me you have proven to be trustworthy and any products associated with u guys will sell like hotcakes!Would love to do business with you.Mariah

JT :

Looks like losing the Overture Bid Tool is a pretty big deal to this strategy. Do you use the Google Adword's tools at all? And if you do, do you just input a low bid for a particular set of keywords and see what the estimated position will be and adjust and fly from there?

John Parker :

Great video series…I do almost everything that you suggest already…I would like to speak with you though…

John :

I don't see you guy's promoting the Tattoo Campaign, did it turn out to be non profitable??

Great Video's and I hope you guy's keep going this route in helping people and not turn into Greedy Guru mongers when you realize your potential with this. What usually happens is your told enough to make you very interested for free and then your nailed for money or a membership fee. Is that the way this is going?

Thanks,

John

nikola :

Thanks for excellents course.
Can you tell us some other way to find relevant keywords.
Themezoom is very expencive for someone who is starting.

First step is to find keywords, but how ?

andrei :

Great videos guys very helpfull!!!
Buu i gotta say the lack of overture bitool and overture keyword kind of making it a bit difficult.
One question I have though, how do I tie up a website wich offers services and not a physical product, for example apartment search services, to clickbank.com, or is there other sites i could use that work better.

July 21, 2007

George :

Great stuff, but your videos are outdated in the area of researching bids on Overture. This source is no longer available.

My question is this: What are you doing now to get this info???

August 17, 2007

Denise :

Hi guys,

For what it's worth, I just become Adwords certified yesterday.

Great videos. I think the two of you make a great team. Keep up the good work and eventually you'll be discovered by Hollywood:)

With that said, I have a couple of questions I hope you can answer.

1) the overture bid tool is defunct. Do you have any suggetions
2)Split testing: you were a little vague, but I assume you mean writing a new ad (in ad groups) using the same keywords, waiting several days, and then determining which ad gets the best response..yes?
3)You were a little vague in Part 2 on "exactly" (heheheh) how you got your keywords during your own research process. I assume you just used your own ability to research "tatoos" on the internet, developed your own keyword list, dumped it into the Google keyword tool and let Google do the rest. Yes?
4) Finally, as I'm not a webmaster by trade I assume when you're discussing the "tracking url" for each keyword you are referencing Google's conversion tracking.. a little more on that would be helpful to me.

George L :

how do i automate the tracking id's for keywords in adwords ????

Martin Paquette :

Hi, good stuff guys, I love it and i'ts exciting !!

My first and only question : since the Overture Max Bid Tool doesn't exist anymore, could you suggest another place where we could go ? thanks

February 25, 2008

Richard Hutchinson :

OvertureIt was purchsed by yahoo and is now yahoo search marketing.

Guy Siverson :

WOW!!!!

I am IMPRESSED!

You go over and beyond in your videos by teaching people grass roots concepts while not adding a lot of "fluff". Great job. Keep up the fabulous work.

Cheers
